Meek had something like a “media day” in Philadelphia a couple days ago. Preparing for his upcoming mixtape with DJ Drama , Meek (accompanied by his manager Charlie Mack) was free for us to do a little prying. I asked the Philadelphia Rap Star many questions in my quest to get to get in his mind. There has not been a rap-star this big in Philadelphia since the Roca-Fella / State Property days. Meek Mill’s single “Make Em Say” has single handedly climbed the rap charts from spins in the Tri-State Area alone! I was accompanied by my music partner & associate Jade Alston!

Just a regular day of blogging and I came across this guys blog. I found out that he is a famous photographer and has shot the likes of Alexander McQueen , Lil Wayne , Shaun White, Blink 182 , the list goes on and on! I hope you guys enjoy his blog as much as I did. Some of the images are disturbing or questionable to me but hey, “That’s Art”.
TERRY RICHARDSON (PHOTOGRAPHER)
Richardson was born in New York City, raised in Hollywood and Ojai, California, and is the son of fashion photographer Bob Richardson. He attended Hollywood High School and Nordhoff High School in Ojai. He was shy as a teenager and at some times deemed “completely lacking in social skills”. He played bass guitar in the punk rock band The Invisible Government for 5 years. Richardson began photography when the band broke up and his mother introduced him to Tony Kent, photographer who took him on as an assistant.
Richardson has shot advertisements for fashion designers, including Gucci, Levi’s, Miu Miu, Eres, Tommy Hilfiger, Club Monaco, Supreme, Hugo Boss, Anna Molinari, Stussy, Baby Phat, Jigsaw, Costume National, Hysteric Glamour, Matsuda, and Sisley. Richardson has also shot editorial photographs for a Vogue, Exit Magazine Vice, Harper’s Bazaar, Penthouse, The Face, GQ and Sports Illustrated. Richardson’s photo books include, Hysteric Glamour, 1998; Son of Bob, 1999; Feared by Men Desired by Women, 2000; Too Much, 2001, Terryworld and Kibosh, both released in 2004. Richardson is a notable exponent of the snapshot aesthetic alongside other contemporary photographers such as Nan Goldin, Wolfgang Tillmans, Juergen Teller, Diana Scheunemann and Martin Parr. Richardson’s photographs are often to some extent autobiographical and frequently graphically depict sexual subject matter. A collection of Richardson’s photography has recently been released by Taschen. More recently he has begun directing music videos, e.g. Young Love’s Find a New Way.
I love animals , especially this one. The little bugger is crazy and definitely intellignent. Like most cute animals she is aware of the attention she receives , so she only appears once in a while. She is sleep most of the time , but will come bother you just when you start to miss her. Piper The Kitten.
I have to admit I didn’t believe in Drake anymore. An artist of his hype was getting pulled in so many directions. The Mainstream wanted him , The Hood wanted him , the underground (the crowd that supported him first) lost faith in him.
Drake believe it or not still has to prove himself. Can he make a body of work that matches “So Far Gone”.
I cant deny Drakes talent an eloquent speaker , his delivery is superb and he can sing. Artists in today’s industry have to be able to do so much to be marketable. Ever since Drake got exposed to the masses I was pissed. Drake belonged to “us”.

Yes “us” the people that appreciate real-music , the people that actually go out and look for new shit, the people that don’t wait for shit to come on the radio and deem it a HIT.
We found Drake somewhere between October & So far Gone , and we introduced him to everyone. We were happy that we were on some shit that nobody else was. People would say ,“Who the hell is Drake?”
Then here comes “Best I Ever Had”. The song that single handedly catapulted Drake into an overnight phenom. Mainstream radio played the song over and over. Those people that sold him out were now on the street corners screaming “you the best I ever had , best I ever had , best I ever had” . In Philly we call it the Power 99 crowd, the radio people! (These are the people that don’t know who is who unless they are on the Radio. )
Drake started making song after song ,some I liked , some I didn’t. Drake was in everyone’s conversation and “us” we felt betrayed. We lost something during that time. Will Drake give what “we” had back to us? Will Drake remember the art that got him here in the first place? Only time will tell.
This New track is great and I think Drake understands what we knew all along!

Where do I even start? I have been planning this event forever, collaborating with my fellow promoters for the past month. Its been a crazy ride , trying to get in contact with two.one.five magazine , getting promotional items from Jive records , begging Dj Diamond Kuts to make an appearance , beating people in their heads about this event , contacting AUF Philadelphia , finding a second DJ for the third floor ( I just did that yesterday).
I appreciate all the support you guys are giving as I attempt to breath life into the Philadelphia nightlife scene. Quality events like this just don’t exist anymore , and I feel like its my job to make this possible not just for you but for the whole city. Philadelphia is not the most attractive place when people think of “partying” , who ever says “lets go down to Philly to party”. People in this area usually go to Atlantic City or NYC.
Please expect many twist and turns on saturday. We have two totally different DJs. This means all types of music. We also have a band performing , and gift bags from Two.one.five magazine and Jive Records. I hope yo see you guys there this Saturday!
